Mickey Mouse Diaper Cake

Hay there blog buds! I am back with another item that I made for my sisters baby shower...a diaper cake. This is the first diaper cake that I have ever made but it definitely won't be my last. Since I had never made one before I checked out YouTube for some tutorials. And as I'm sure you guessed, there where tons. But I found a pretty simple on here. The quality of the video isn't the greatest but you get the general jist of it.

I wasn't totally sure what I wanted to decorate the cake with at first. Again I thought I would be able to find all kinds of really cute Mickey themed items to decorate it with but that didn't happen. Then I thought I would decorate it with all the needed baby products...baby powder, baby lotion, baby wash, pacifiers, all the typical things. But when I started to put them on the cake they just didn't look right. Finally I found the cute Mickey handling the soft and fuzzy baby blanket. I knew that it would make the perfect cake topper. I found the polka-dot ribbon at JoAnne's. Even though the cake is simply decorated I love it. I think it looks better this way. Instead of covered in all the baby items.

Then as a surprisee to my sister I hid this really cute throw blanket in the center of the cake for her. I got it at Ikea when I was there a month or so ago. When I got the blanket it was already rolled up. So it became the center of the cake instead of the typical baby bottles. I got it in red so it would match the nursery. I figure new Mommy's always need a little surprise present just for them.
Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!
