Back in Action

Hay blog buddies! Sorry I have been MIA lately. I was super busy getting ready for my sisters baby shower. I had so many last minute things to make. But now the shower is over and I will be back over the next few days to show you all the great things that I made for the shower.

So lets getting going on today's item. These are the center pieces that I made. Sorry for the bad picture. I was so busy running around the shower that I took this pictures really quick as I was moving on to set something else up.
I had originally planned on making pinwheels for the center pieces. But when I started looking up tutorials online I realized how labor intensive those where going to be. Plus I couldn't find the patterned paper that I was seeing in my head. Don't you hate when that happens?
My sister plans on decorating the nursery in a Classic Mickey Mouse theme. I thought I would be able to find tons of things to go with this theme but it was a lot harder then I thought it was going to be.

Anyway. My friend Fran - Hay Fran! - found a picture of these flowers online and I really liked them. Even better they were cut out using a Cricut! Talk about cutting the labor down! So the center pieces went from pin wheels to these flower pin wheels. At least that's what I call them. I got the buckets they're in from the Target $1 Spot. Love that place. I planned on putting styrofoam in the bottoms of the buckets to stick the flowers in but I had no idea how expensive that stuff was. My Mom came up with a great substitute...rice! Genius!
I love how these came out! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy O' Birthday

Hay ladies! Sorry it's been so long since I made my last post. Life has been really crazy lately. Between all the hecticness of my job and planning my sister's baby shower it seems like I have no time for anything. Once the shower is done...next weekend...I will have a few things to show you that I made for the shower.

Anyway. On to today's post. I made this card for my co-worker Jody's birthday last Thursday. I don't know about you but I always seem to have a hard time making cards for guys. I tend to use "girlie" colors more so I have to break out of my comfort zone. But I really like how this card came out.

I also made Jody some cupcakes for his birthday. But little did I know that as of two weeks ago his doctor told him that he couldn't have sugar anymore. So he couldn't have any of the yummy cupcakes that I made for him. At least everyone else in the office got to enjoy the Funfetti Cupcakes that I made. They were probably the best box cupcakes I have ever had and I am not just saying that because I made them. Everyone in the office kept coming up to me telling me they were amazing. It was a nice little pick me up on an otherwise crappy work day.

Thanks for stopping by and Enjoy!

Cars and Trucks or Ribbons and Bows

I made this card as the invitation for my sister baby shower. This is her first baby and she has decided that she isn't going to find out what she is having. So that's where the title came from. The opening line of the invitation says, "Cars and trucks or ribbons and bows. What she's having nobody knows!" I found this little saying online and I loved it. I thought it was perfect for the invites.

I had a hard time deciding on the design for this invite. She is decorating the baby's room in a Mickey/Minnie theme. I know that I wanted to stick with the classic Mickey theme but I wanted to make it really nice. I found a design that I loved over at Ginger Williams blog. You definitely have to go check her blog out if you haven't seen it. She makes the cutest things. I made a few changes to Ginger's designer but I kept it the same for the most part.

Also since she isn't finding out if she is having a boy or a girl I decided to make two versions of the invite. One Mickey version and one Minnie version. The guest won't really know this since they will only be getting on invite each but I thought it was a cute touch. I found the Disney font that I used on the cards online from a free gallery. My boss gave me this tip. I never knew that you could download free fonts. This is definitely something that I am going to remember.

I just love the way these cards came out! Hope you like them to and thanks for stopping by!
